Poop pills tested as potential boost for stubborn bowel disease
NCT ID NCT07149441
Summary
This study is testing if adding fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) capsules to standard biologic drug therapy helps people with active Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis more than the drugs alone. It enrolled 94 adults whose disease was not fully controlled by prior biologic treatments. Researchers will compare symptom scores and gut bacteria changes over a year to see if the combined approach is more effective and safe.
