Gut bacteria transplants tested as potential autism treatment

NCT ID NCT07381374

Summary

This study is testing whether transferring healthy gut bacteria from donors (fecal microbiota transplantation) can help children with moderate-to-severe autism. Researchers will compare two different delivery methods—through a nose tube or during a colonoscopy—against a placebo treatment. The main goal is to see if these treatments improve autism symptoms and gut health over 24 weeks.
