Electronic 'Smart Stool' could revolutionize how doctors diagnose embarrassing bowel condition

NCT ID NCT05412069

Summary

This study is testing a new device called Fecobionics, which acts like an electronic simulated stool, to better understand how the body controls bowel movements. Researchers will use the device in 155 adults, including both healthy volunteers and people with fecal incontinence, to measure how muscles work during defecation. The goal is to develop a more accurate diagnostic tool that mimics a natural bowel movement, which could lead to better, more personalized treatments for this common condition.
