First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study is testing a finger-prick blood test called FebriDx in 800 children aged 2-11 who have a fever and symptoms of a respiratory infection. The goal is to see if the test can accurately tell whether the infection is caused by bacteria (which may need antibiotics) or by a virus (which does not). If successful, this test could help doctors avoid prescribing antibiotics when they aren't needed.
