Tiny preemies get Brain-Boosting oil in new study
NCT ID NCT07311382
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving very preterm babies (born before 32 weeks) a special oil rich in DHA and ARA fatty acids helps their bodies absorb these nutrients. Fifteen babies received the supplement from birth until 36 weeks or discharge. Researchers measured fatty acid levels in blood, checked brain development with EEG and ultrasound, and monitored growth and lung function. The goal is to understand if early supplementation supports better development in these vulnerable infants.
