Scientists probe fat's own chemistry to fight obesity and diabetes
NCT ID NCT07567287
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how certain natural chemicals (endocannabinoids) in belly fat affect the creation of new fat cells. Researchers will take small samples of fat tissue from 30 people undergoing abdominal surgery, including those with obesity, diabetes, and healthy controls. By studying stem cells from the fat in a lab, they hope to understand how these chemicals contribute to weight gain and find better targets for future obesity and diabetes treatments.
