New study tests if clear liquid diet prevents stomach complications in GLP-1 users
NCT ID NCT06839248
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a 24-hour clear liquid diet is better than standard fasting at reducing leftover stomach contents in people taking weekly GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic). The goal is to lower the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs during procedures. About 154 adults on GLP-1 drugs will be randomly assigned to one of two fasting plans and then have a stomach ultrasound to check results.
