First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special low-calorie diet that mimics fasting can improve the results of standard gum disease treatment in obese adults with severe periodontitis. Forty participants will receive non-surgical periodontal therapy and either follow the fasting-mimicking diet or their usual diet. The goal is to see if the diet reduces body-wide inflammation and helps gums heal better.
