Could skipping meals around surgery cause mental confusion?

NCT ID NCT07391631

Summary

This study aims to understand if how long patients fast before and after surgery is linked to developing postoperative delirium—a temporary state of serious confusion. Researchers will observe 1,000 adult surgery patients, recording their fasting times and checking for signs of confusion in the days after their operation. No treatments or routines will be changed; the goal is to gather information that might improve future patient safety.
