Does fasting longer before a C-Section worsen recovery?
NCT ID NCT06701929
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Aug 11, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looks at how the length of time you fast before a planned C-section affects how well you recover. One hundred women having an elective C-section will answer 11 questions about their recovery 24 hours after surgery. The goal is to see if longer fasting times lead to worse recovery scores.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If this study finds a link between fasting time and recovery, it could lead to better pre-surgery fasting guidelines for C-sections, improving patient comfort.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, observational study, not a treatment trial. It can only show a connection, not prove cause and effect. Results may not apply to all patients.
