Rapid blood test aims to curb unnecessary antibiotics in ER

NCT ID NCT06069206

Summary

This study tested if a new, faster blood test could help doctors manage antibiotics better for emergency room patients with suspected bloodstream infections. It compared the new test, which gives results in hours, to the standard slower method. The goal was to see if the faster results helped doctors stop powerful antibiotics like vancomycin sooner when they weren't needed, reducing side effects and antibiotic resistance.
