Rapid test aims to cut unnecessary antibiotics in ER

NCT ID NCT06069206

Summary

This study tested whether a new, faster blood test could help doctors stop unnecessary antibiotics sooner in emergency room patients with suspected bloodstream infections. Researchers compared the rapid test to standard blood cultures in 500 adults who had already been started on a strong antibiotic. The goal was to see if the faster results could safely reduce antibiotic use and its associated risks.
