Race against time: new test aims to get Life-Saving antibiotic info to ICU doctors in hours, not days

NCT ID NCT07202377

Summary

This study is testing a new, faster lab machine that can tell doctors exactly how strong an antibiotic needs to be to fight a specific infection in about 6 hours. Currently, this information takes 18-24 hours. Researchers want to see if getting this detailed result faster helps intensive care unit (ICU) doctors choose or adjust the best antibiotic sooner for patients with serious bloodstream infections. The study will involve 200 adult ICU patients in France.
