Sedation or stronger seizure drugs? new trial aims to find best treatment for stubborn brain seizures

NCT ID NCT05263674

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at adults with non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE), a condition where the brain has ongoing seizure activity without obvious shaking. The trial compares two treatments: putting patients into a medically induced sleep (sedation) versus giving high-dose anti-seizure medication. The goal is to see which approach stops the seizures better after 24 hours. About 140 participants will be enrolled.
