Race against time: does faster hip surgery save lives?

NCT ID NCT06881121

Summary

This study tested whether getting hip fracture surgery within 48 hours of injury is better than the usual, slower process. Researchers compared 150 older patients split into two groups: one got fast-tracked care and surgery, the other followed the standard hospital pathway. They looked at whether the faster approach reduced deaths within 30 days, shortened hospital stays, and led to fewer complications like blood clots.
