First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether far-UVC light devices can help prevent respiratory viral infections like flu and COVID-19 in long-term care facilities. About 550 elderly residents took part, and the light was used as an extra cleaning method alongside usual hygiene practices. The goal was to see if this safe type of ultraviolet light could reduce the spread of airborne and surface viruses.
