Can family presence during ICU rounds ease anxiety and improve care?

NCT ID NCT06586541

Summary

This study is testing whether having family members participate in daily medical team rounds in adult intensive care units improves family engagement and communication. The research involves 194 family members across 6 Canadian ICUs, measuring their satisfaction, anxiety, depression, and quality of communication with healthcare teams. The goal is to gather evidence about whether this practice should become standard care to better support families during critical illness.
