AI camera system spots fall risk before it happens

NCT ID NCT07000981

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a computer system using cameras and machine learning could predict fall risk in adults. 177 people who could walk with or without help had their walking recorded by a camera and a phone accelerometer. The system analyzed their gait and combined it with a standard fall-risk score to see if it could accurately classify risk. The goal is to create a contactless, real-time tool to help nurses prevent falls.
