Doctors probe if silicone oil in eye surgery damages cornea

NCT ID NCT07418606

Summary

This study aims to understand how silicone oil, used to repair a detached retina, affects the delicate inner layer of the cornea. Researchers will monitor 40 patients to see if different oil thicknesses cause more cell loss and if removing the oil allows the cornea to recover. The goal is to gather knowledge to improve surgical safety and outcomes.
