Doctors use eye scan to watch brain pressure during surgery

NCT ID NCT06209034

Summary

This study tested whether a simple eye ultrasound could safely monitor brain pressure changes during laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Researchers measured the optic nerve sheath diameter in 55 adult patients undergoing this common procedure. The goal was to understand if this non-invasive method could reliably detect pressure changes that sometimes occur when gas is used to create space for surgery.
