Drug tested to shield eyes during risky back surgery

NCT ID NCT04628663

Summary

This study is testing if a sedative drug called dexmedetomidine can help control pressure inside the eye during long spine surgeries. Patients lie face down for these operations, which can increase eye pressure and risk vision problems. Researchers will compare the drug to a placebo in 60 patients to see if it safely keeps eye pressure stable.
