Doctors probe link between gut scopes and eye pressure

NCT ID NCT07190508

Summary

This study observed 40 adults to see if routine steps during an upper GI endoscopy—receiving IV fluids before sedation and passing the scope into the small intestine—cause short-term changes in eye pressure. Researchers measured eye pressure at four key moments during the procedure to understand its safety for patients, especially those at risk for high eye pressure. The goal was to gather information, not to test a new treatment.
