New eye gel tested to fight contagious pink eye

NCT ID NCT03749317

Summary

This study tested an experimental eye drop gel containing povidone-iodine to see if it could help people with viral pink eye (adenoviral conjunctivitis) get better faster. 135 participants with a confirmed diagnosis were randomly assigned to receive either the real gel or a placebo gel. The main goal was to see if the treatment could clear up the eye redness and discharge.
