Parkinson's drug tested as potential Game-Changer for blinding eye disease
NCT ID NCT03197493
Summary
This study tested if taking carbidopa-levodopa pills (a medication used for Parkinson's disease) for a full year could help control 'wet' age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss. It was a 9-month extension for 35 people who had already completed a 3-month trial of the drug. Researchers wanted to see if the medication could improve vision and reduce swelling in the retina, potentially decreasing the need for frequent eye injections.
