New eye drops aim to soothe painful eye damage in 'Butterfly Skin' disease

NCT ID NCT06713434

Summary

This study is testing whether a new eye drop called ELK-003 can help reduce painful eye problems in people with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a condition that causes fragile skin and frequent corneal abrasions. For 6 months, 20 participants will use the drops 6 times daily to see if they experience fewer eye injuries and better comfort. The study first observes the natural course of eye issues for 4 months, then compares that period to the 6-month treatment phase for each person.
