Eye drops before surgery aim to stop scarring in detached retinas

NCT ID NCT07162818

Summary

This study tested whether using an anti-inflammatory eye drop (nepafenac 0.1%) for five days before surgery could help control harmful scarring in patients with a detached retina. Researchers compared the eye drop to artificial tears in 61 adults to see if it reduced specific markers of inflammation in the eye fluid. The goal was to see if this pre-surgery treatment could improve surgical outcomes by better managing the disease process.
