Who's at risk? major study probes dangerous reactions to routine eye drops

NCT ID NCT07178600

Summary

This study aims to understand why some patients have bad reactions to a common combination of eye drops (tropicamide/phenylephrine) used before eye exams and surgery. Researchers will follow 1,000 hospitalized patients, checking their vital signs and asking questions before and after they receive the drops. The goal is to identify which patient characteristics or existing health conditions make someone more likely to experience side effects like high blood pressure or discomfort.
