Last-Hope heart device made available for critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT07421557

Summary

This is not a standard clinical trial. It's an 'expanded access' program that allows doctors to request a special heart device called the Occlutech AFR for patients with severe pulmonary hypertension who have no other treatment options. The device is designed to help control the disease by creating a small opening between the heart's upper chambers to relieve pressure. Each request must be approved by the FDA and a hospital review board on a case-by-case basis.
