Exercise before and after pancreatic cancer surgery may speed recovery and chemotherapy start
NCT ID NCT07710495
First seen Jul 17, 2026 · Last updated Jul 17, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a personalized exercise program given before, during, and after Whipple surgery (a major operation for pancreatic cancer) helps patients recover faster and start chemotherapy sooner. Adults scheduled for Whipple surgery will receive an exercise plan tailored to their fitness level, including aerobic and strength training. The main goal is to see if such a program is practical and acceptable for patients, which could lead to a larger trial.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- a personalized exercise program including aerobic and resistance training
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a tailored exercise program helps people recover faster after major pancreatic cancer surgery and start chemotherapy sooner.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small feasibility study, so it may not prove the program improves outcomes. Exercise may be too difficult for some patients after such a major surgery.
