Pumping iron for your brain: study tests if weight training fights memory decline

NCT ID NCT02669394

Summary

This study tested whether a year of strength training could help slow down memory and thinking problems in older adults. Researchers compared a weight-lifting program to a gentle stretching program in 91 people with early-stage memory issues linked to blood vessel changes in the brain. The goal was to see if building muscle could also help protect brain health and cognitive function.
