New balloon treatment may keep heart arteries open longer
NCT ID NCT05731700
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested a special balloon coated with the drug everolimus to treat in-stent restenosis, a condition where a previously stented heart artery narrows again. Fifty-one adults with this condition received the balloon treatment to push the artery open and deliver medication to prevent re-blockage. The goal was to see if the balloon is safe and effective at keeping the artery open without needing another permanent stent.
