New radioactive tracer could spot hidden cancer in neck lymph nodes

NCT ID NCT05901545

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether a radioactive drug called 111In-panitumumab can help doctors find the first lymph nodes where head and neck cancer has spread. About 30 adults with head and neck cancer scheduled for surgery will receive the drug and then get a special scan (SPECT/CT) to see if it lights up cancer cells. The goal is to improve detection of small cancer deposits that standard scans might miss, which could lead to more accurate staging and treatment.
