Could a common arthritis drug silence the ringing of war?

NCT ID NCT04066348

Summary

This study is testing if etanercept, a medication that blocks inflammation, can reduce the severity of ringing in the ears (tinnitus) caused by blast exposure, loud noise, or traumatic brain injury. 88 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the medication or a placebo saline injection. The main goal is to see if the treatment makes the tinnitus less distressing and improves hearing for people with this specific type of ear ringing.
