New glasses could slow Kids' worsening eyesight

NCT ID NCT06263946

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether Essilor Stellest spectacle lenses can slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children and teens aged 6 to 16. One hundred fifty participants will wear the lenses for at least 12 hours a day over 24 months. Researchers will measure changes in eye length and prescription strength to see if the lenses work better than expected natural progression.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Essilor Stellest spectacle lenses

What this could lead to

If successful, these lenses could offer a simple, non-invasive way to slow worsening nearsightedness in children, reducing the need for stronger prescriptions.

What could go wrong

This is a post-market study with no control group, so results may be less definitive. The lenses require full-time wear for 2 years, and not all children may see the same benefit.
