Experimental esophageal patch trial halted after just one patient

NCT ID NCT04689594

First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested a regenerative cell product placed on the wound after removing early-stage esophageal cancer. The goal was to prevent the esophagus from narrowing, a common complication. Only one person enrolled before the trial was stopped, so we have very little information about how well it works or its safety.
