Anesthesia drug tested to calm cancer surgery anxiety

NCT ID NCT06530706

Summary

This study tested whether a single dose of the anesthetic drug esketamine, given during surgery, could reduce anxiety in patients with abdominal tumors. It involved 185 adults who were already feeling anxious before their operation. Researchers compared patients who received esketamine to those who received a placebo (saltwater) to see if it improved their anxiety, sleep, and recovery quality after surgery.
