New drug aims to give sunlight back to people with debilitating light sensitivity

NCT ID NCT05883748

Summary

This study is testing the long-term safety and effectiveness of an experimental drug called bitopertin for people with erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP), a rare disorder that causes severe, painful reactions to sunlight. The research will monitor side effects and see if the drug helps people spend more time in the sun without pain. It is open to people aged 12 and older who have already taken part in a previous bitopertin study.
