New study aims to speed up pain relief during C-Sections
NCT ID NCT07349082
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of anesthesia for cesarean deliveries: standard epidural and a newer technique called dural puncture epidural (DPE). The goal is to see which one provides faster pain relief and better stability in blood pressure. Seventy-two pregnant women scheduled for C-sections will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods, and their pain block onset and side effects will be tracked.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If DPE works faster, it could mean quicker pain relief and more stable blood pressure during C-sections.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 72 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Both techniques have known risks like headache or low blood pressure.
