Researchers investigate hidden epidural risks for vulnerable new moms

NCT ID NCT06449066

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to understand if epidural pain relief during childbirth is linked to more infections in women with primary immunodeficiencies (weak immune systems). Researchers reviewed the records of 30 women from a national registry who gave birth over the past 10 years. The goal was to see how often serious infections like spinal abscesses or meningitis occurred after an epidural in this higher-risk group.
