New sitting position could make epidurals quicker and easier

NCT ID NCT04754282

Summary

This study tested if a cross-legged sitting position is better than the traditional sitting position for placing an epidural catheter during labor. Researchers wanted to see if the cross-legged position helps get the catheter in correctly on the very first try, making the process more comfortable and successful. The study involved 457 women in labor who requested an epidural for pain relief.
