New pill offers hope for stubborn lung disease

NCT ID NCT07301320

Summary

This study is testing whether a new oral medication called epetraborole can help adults with a chronic and difficult-to-treat bacterial lung infection (Mycobacterium abscessus). Participants will take either the drug or a placebo pill daily for 12 weeks to see if it improves symptoms, clears the bacteria from the lungs, and is safe. The goal is to find a simpler, oral treatment option for this condition, which usually requires complex intravenous antibiotics.
