Summary
This study aims to understand why some people in French Guiana develop unexplained nerve damage. Researchers will compare 78 people with nerve damage to those without it, checking for exposure to local viruses, mercury from gold mining, and certain traditional plants. The goal is to identify potential environmental causes, not to test a treatment.
