Artificial cornea layer offers hope when transplants fail

NCT ID NCT07344168

Summary

This study is testing a permanent, clear synthetic implant called EndoArt for people with chronic corneal swelling (edema) who have had multiple failed corneal transplants and are not good candidates for another transplant. The device acts as a barrier to stop fluid from leaking into the cornea, which causes the swelling and vision loss. Researchers will follow 123 patients for 12 months to see if the implant is safe and if it improves their vision.
