First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to treat pleural empyema, a serious lung infection with a 15% death rate. One group gets medication (fibrinolytics and DNase) through a chest tube, while the other has keyhole surgery (VATS). The goal is to see which approach leads to a shorter hospital stay and better recovery. About 184 adults in Denmark will take part.
