Tiny lung implants tested to help emphysema patients breathe

NCT ID NCT05854550

Summary

This first-in-human study tested a new bronchoscopic implant designed to help people with severe emphysema. Up to 30 participants had small implants placed in their lung airways to see if the procedure is safe and if it helps release trapped air, making breathing easier. Researchers followed participants for a year to monitor safety and check if their lung function and quality of life improved.
