Summary

This study looks at whether people with heart failure who are already taking empagliflozin should keep taking it while in the hospital for a sudden worsening of their condition. About 536 adults will either continue the drug or receive a placebo during their hospital stay, then all will take empagliflozin after discharge. The goal is to see if continuing the drug reduces the risk of death, rehospitalization, or kidney problems over 90 days.
