Surgery blood pressure battle: which drug works best?

NCT ID NCT07259655

Summary

This study compared two common drugs used to treat dangerous drops in blood pressure that can happen right after anesthesia is given for emergency abdominal surgery. Researchers tested whether norepinephrine or ephedrine was better at quickly restoring a safe blood pressure level and which one required fewer doses. The trial involved 100 adult patients having surgeries like for appendicitis or bowel obstructions.
