Double stitch may keep babies safer in weak cervix pregnancies
NCT ID NCT05268640
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether placing two stitches (double-level cerclage) instead of one around a weak cervix during an emergency in the second trimester helps prevent very early delivery before 34 weeks. It included 81 pregnant women with a single baby whose fetal membranes were visible through the open cervix. The goal was to see if the double stitch reduces the risk of miscarriage or preterm birth compared to the standard single stitch.
