Life-Saving tourniquet tested for mothers in crisis zones

NCT ID NCT07016568

Summary

This study tested a medical device designed to temporarily stop severe, life-threatening bleeding after childbirth when standard treatments don't work. The device, an abdominal tourniquet, was used on four patients in a war-affected region of Ukraine to see if it could control bleeding long enough for doctors to prepare for emergency surgery. The goal was to evaluate if this approach is safe and effective as a last-resort measure in areas with limited medical resources.
