First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested a daily pill called eltrombopag in 34 people with moderate aplastic anemia, a condition where the bone marrow doesn't make enough blood cells. The goal was to see if the drug could safely increase platelet and red blood cell counts and reduce the need for transfusions. Participants took the pill for up to 20 weeks, and those who responded could continue treatment.
